Taking Body Measurements
- BUST CIRCUMFERENCE (OG) is measured around the chest, over the widest part (specifically over the most protruding part of the bust, i.e., over the nipples). Ensure that the measuring tape is horizontal.
- WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE (OS) is measured at the narrowest part of the waist, below the ribs and slightly above the navel. If the garment sits at the waist, is cut at the waist, or has a waistband, the measurement should be taken precisely at that point, depending on the garment. The measuring tape must be horizontal.
- HIP CIRCUMFERENCE (OB) is measured at the widest part of the hips. The best way to find this is by viewing the body from the side. The goal is to get the widest circumference of the lower torso. The measuring tape should be horizontal.
- SLEEVE LENGTH is measured from the top of the shoulder to the wrist or to the desired sleeve length. The arm should be bent at a 45-degree angle. The measuring tape runs from the top of the shoulder, over the elbow, and down to the wrist.
- GARMENT LENGTH is measured on the back. The measuring tape is placed at the base of the neck and runs down along the spine to the desired length.
- BACK WIDTH is measured horizontally across the back.
- SHOULDER WIDTH is measured from the neckline to the top of the shoulder, horizontally.
- LOWER GARMENT LENGTH is measured from the side. The measurement is taken from the waist down to the desired length of the garment.
